My name is Jacqueline Andrew and I have over 16 years’ experience working with children. I began my career as a Nursery Nurse in 1999 and became a qualified teacher in 2001. I have taught in EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2, however, I am extremely passionate about teaching in Early Years. I have worked in England, St. Lucia and Turks and Caicos.
My philosophy is that every working environment should be a happy one, where children feel free to make mistakes and learn from them. Where children know that trying something new and working at it, is the best way we can become better learners.
I pride myself in creating challenging and effective learning environments, where every child’s work and efforts are displayed and open for discussion. I believe that person and peer assessment should begin in the Nursery. I have developed the ability to use observations of individual and groups of children to inform my plan for Next Steps in learning. I have very high expectations of each individual and where necessary will make on the spot changes to move their learning on further.
I have lived in the Turks and Caicos Islands from August 2016. I have been a Special Education Teacher most recently.
